Fall 2019 Update!

It’s been, what, over a year since I last updated here? There’s far too much that’s happened since then to put in one post, so I’m just going to give the highlights!

At the beginning of 2019, I was lucky enough to be working on Season 2 of Ace Attorney at Funimation! This show has been so much fun to work on, and of course we always hope for more seasons of every show we do! (Ok, but seriously, looking at you Overlord Season 4! Where you at?). Voicing Franziska has taught me a lot, and let’s be honest, who doesn’t want to shout “Objection” and call people “foolish fool” all the time?

We could all use a little more Franziska in our lives, am I right? Anybody want a Season 3 of Ace Attorney?

Can we also talk about how I celebrated my three year anniversary at Funimation in September this year? I can’t believe it’s already been three years! I’ve gotten to voice some fantastic characters! Head over to my anime page to hear some of these awesome ladies!

I did a bunch of shows onstage this year, including a murder mystery melodrama (Ravenscroft), a children’s classic with the best score ever (The Secret Garden), and a hilarious farce where a reviewer called me and my scene partner “dense” (accurate), and they hoped it was a character choice (Anything Goes). So. Winning.

I started recording Audiobooks this year! You can check out samples over on my audiobooks page, and of course, you can find them all on audible! I’ve got more in production right now, so keep an eye out for those in 2020!

In August, I signed with the incredible Campbell Agency for Voice Over! So exciting! I’ve been working on projects through them for the past few months, and it’s been amazing to get into the commercial side of VO. I love it more with each recording session! I can’t wait to share the projects I’ve been working on! I’ve got some EXCITING news that I can’t share yet, but I’m literally dying to tell everyone.

I can honestly say that Voice Over is my favorite form of acting that I’ve ever done. I don’t know what it is. I love being in the booth!

And the most recent news, I recently signed with Campbell for On Camera as well! Woohoo!

To close out the year, I’m Christmas Caroling again with the Goode Time Carolers of Dallas!

It was like, 75 degrees out when we took this picture. So thanks, Texas.

This will be my 5th year caroling, and I love it! I missed doing it last year, and I’m so thrilled to be back. We’re all ready to spread Christmas cheer this season! Head over to the website if you’re in need of some ambassadors of the spirit of the season for your Christmas party!

In non-acting related news, I’m coming up on my one year anniversary teaching with VIPKid! This is the best “survival job” I can imagine. These kids are so smart, so funny, and so sweet. I get to teach kids from 4 years old to about 14, and each class is interesting in different ways! They work incredibly hard and I love learning about China and their culture as we talk in each class. I’m always willing to talk about this awesome job if anyone is looking for more work that you can schedule yourself, do from home in your pajamas, and not have to turn down auditions for! The Tony Award-winning book and score are both enchanting and touching. The story follows a Baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King’s Festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch’s curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone’s wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results. Rated PG-13

The Secret Garden Cast Announcement and Show Details

I am very pleased to announce that I have been cast as Mrs. Claire Holmes in Brick Road Theatre’s production of The Secret Garden! This enchanting classic of children’s literature is reimagined in brilliant musical style by composer Lucy Simon and Marsha Norman, the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright of ‘Night Mother. Orphaned in India, 11 year-old Mary Lennox returns to Yorkshire to live with her embittered, reclusive uncle Archibald and his invalid son Colin. Temporal Powers at Reflexion Theater Company

I am very excited to be a part of this moving production. Not only is it forcing me to work on an Irish accent, but it’s the first straight play I’ve done since college, and I’m loving it! Come see me play Lizzie Brennan, a sassy and somewhat spacey Irish lass who just wants to get married, no matter the cost.

**REGIONAL PREMIERE**

A homeless couple taking shelter in the ruins of a castle on a hillside in Ireland find a bag of money. Immediately, they are forced to make decisions that will affect the rest of their lives.

The New Moon at Lyric Stage

I’m so excited to announce that I have been cast in The New Moon at Lyric Stage! This is a big step for me professionally for many reasons, and I could not be more thrilled. We’ve been in rehearsal for a week and half already and I’ve never worked with such a talented cast before; it’s truly a pleasure and a joy to go to rehearsal every day. And the best part (aside from the incredible singers I get to sing with) is that the show is accompanied by a full, live orchestra! This is so rare and such a treat; you won’t want to miss the show!

Wasn’t that glorious? And believe me, the rest of the show is just as wonderful. Lots of laughs, romantic tension, and the noble fight for a fairer world. What could be better?

THE NEW MOON

A Romantic Musical Comedy

THE NEW MOON was composer Sigmund Romberg’s third hit in a row and the last of the great Broadway comic operettas. The original Broadway production ran for 519 performances at the Imperial Theatre (September 19, 1928-December 14, 1929). The Desert Song (1924), Student Prince (1925), The New Moon; no other composer produced three in a row like this, of such quality and with such success. Perhaps The New Moon is his most impressive. Lyric Stage’s production will be a once in a lifetime opportunity for North Texas audiences to hear this glorious score sung by an ensemble of incredible singers accompanied by the 35 piece Lyric Stage Orchestra. “Lover, Come Back to Me,” “One Kiss,” and the rousing “Stout-Hearted Men” are three of the hit songs from Romberg’s greatest score.

Christopher J. Deaton and Kristen Lassiter, stars of Lyric Stage’s THE DESERT SONG and THE GOLDEN APPLE, return to Lyric Stage as star-crossed lovers Robert and Marianne.
